Sunday Slowdown
Be inspired
“Free time was the most precious time when you should be doing what you loved, or at least slowing down enough to remember what made your life worthwhile and happy.” – Amy Tan.
One of life’s most simple pleasures is having the day off to do exactly what you want. But not only that. To be able to feel that no one in the world needs anything from you, that you can sit and stare at the world in front of you with no agenda.
Write, cook, paint, read, or do whatever makes you feel free without any perceived demands of another. Why don’t we do more of what we love or nothing at all? We think we don’t have the time or permission. We argue that there are obligations and expectations. Aside from the daily necessities, these expectations come mostly from ourselves. When others generously give us the time to be free, we are prone to waste it.
This life is precious. Permit yourself to rest, to be. Slow down and let yourself catch up with yourself. Integrate your soul back into your life. Put your wings back on and remember what freedom feels like. Even when we have obligations, we can carve out time to feel free. Let it be a choice, a mindset, a mantra. This is what Sundays are for slowing down and catching up. It’s always possible to change the way you want to live.
Remember the sanctity of time—self-love of the most holy kind.
